Ghosts – Fantasmas

Talking Fantasmas with the Team

Joe: Emidio, I’ve always been curious — in Portuguese culture, what do you call ghosts?

Emidio: We call them Fantasmas. It’s a word that carries a lot of weight in our language and stories.

Joe: Interesting. I actually believe many of these “ghosts” are dead ancestors protecting the living. They watch over family homes, keeping the energy balanced and guiding the right people to the property.

Kane: That makes a lot of sense. At Ghost Houses, we’ve seen properties where the atmosphere just feels… watched over. Not spooky — more like there’s a quiet guardian presence.

Emidio: Exactly. In many old Portuguese homes, fantasmas aren’t something to fear. They’re part of the family history. Some people even say the house chooses its new owners.

Joe: So when clients come to us looking for a “ghost house,” we’re really helping them find a home with good spirits — protective ancestors who want the right people living there.

Kane: That’s why we do what we do. We don’t just sell houses. We connect people with properties that already have soul… and sometimes, a few friendly fantasmas looking out for them.
